Kaia & Merlin
Kaia and Merlin were brought to my attention by Vinnie Bones as he has come to be known now as he is a regular working man in the UK porn industry. I got the pics through and we had the usual telephone conversation and I agreed to book them a hotel as they were going to be in London for the period the shoot was to take place. Besides it wasn’t convenient to do a shoot at their place in Preston.
On the day I met them at the hotel I booked for them. we went up to the room and thought they were a bit stand off-ish. Undetered I ignored it as some of my best shoots have started off with this unfamiliar silence which I put down to the long drive and suggested they have a few hours to chill out and rest and I could come back, after all they were booked in for the night anyway.
Kaia seemed so uneasy about something that she prompted they would rather get on with it so I thought I’d try the direct approach by asking what the problem was and she told me she found the whole thing sleazy…Which really threw me as they knew what we were doing and I booked this place for them which, ok its not the Savoy but its a decent room with an en suite bathroom in a 3 star hotel. Then she proceeded to explain that shooting porn itself was sleazy. Them doing it was sleazy. Ok. I cant disagree that a bit of sleaze, if we should be honest is the ingredient for us to indulge our dark desires. It makes the whole thing salacious, mischievous and how can something that feels so nice be so wrong? Then she explained they had a rather unpleasant encounter with another photographer and producer whom I was once familiar with and it all became clear. I don’t do any of that nude hugs and touchy feely stuff…well, not unless I’m invited to anyway. It seems this sort of thing left her cold and thinking the whole porn industry was like this.
